‘Gimme a Break’ gives a residential opportunity to young people from low income families in understanding work ethics and work experience. We recognise there are particular challenges that young people from poor households face in seeking out meaningful employment, and that a cycle of disadvantage and poor outcomes is only too common.
‘Gimme a Break’ helps give young unemployed people a clear framework to work toward reaching their potential and becoming positive and confident adults that make a constructive contribution to society. We do this in a clearly structured work programme of daily work, team meetings, and appraisals. The programme offers ongoing help with job applications, references, sign posting and a ‘listening ear. Many of those that attended the programme have gone on to find full time employment.
